To ensure all attendees have a memorable experience, we want to make everyone aware of the accommodations, features, and services available for everyone while attending SIGCSE TS.

Physical Space

The floor maps for the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center are here. More information about the venue is on the venue website, and here are some highlights.

Venue Access

• The only entrance to the Convention Center that will be open for our event is the West entrance.
• This entrance is closest to the Conference Hotels.

Elevators

• All levels of the building are reachable by elevator.
• There is one elevator in the lobby which reaches both floors.
• Control call and alarm buttons are accessible to persons in wheelchairs.

Wheelchair and Power Scooter Access

• The area is wheelchair accessible.
• All restrooms in the convention center are wheelchair accessible.
• If you are presenting in a room with a raised stage, wheelchair-accessible ramps will be made available upon request. Contact us at ud2027@sigcse-ts.acm.org.
• On-site wheelchair/scooters are not available for rent. But you can rent from local businesses that provide the service.

Induction Loops

No induction loops (hearing loops) are available in the convention center. We are working with the venue on listening assistance devices.

Microphones

All speakers have been told to use microphones in all sessions. All session chairs have been asked to use the microphone and ensure all speakers do as well. All attendees are expected to use a microphone for questions from the audience. Please help us all by ensuring all speakers use microphones by requesting their use, even if you aren’t the one that requires it. We appreciate your patience while a microphone is passed to those who are waiting to ask a question.

Restrooms

There are accessible restrooms on all three levels and inside the Exhibit Hall. The most accessible restroom is the one by the Ballroom B Pre-function area. These restrooms do not have doors and are more spacious. All other restrooms have a lever-style handle without an automatic opener. These doors swing outward and were measured to need 10-15lbs of pushing force to open from the inside.

Smoking & Smoking-free Areas

• The entire conference venue is a no-smoking area.
• Smoking areas are located outside.
• We thank attendees who smoke for smoking away from the building and ensuring adequate time before reentering the venue to allow smoke to dissipate.

Nursing Space

Room 15 on the North side of Level 2 will be our dedicated “Lactation Lounge” for all nursing/pumping needs.

Quiet Area

Quiet areas are available in the center. Meeting Room 13 (Level 2, North Side) is the SIGCSE Trechnical Symposium’s designated quiet room. It will be available throughout the conference.

Sensory Accommodations

Participants are asked to not use flash photography or to wear strong scents. This is to accommodate those who have high sensory sensitivity.

The organizing committee and student volunteers will be taking photographs during the symposium. If you have a sensitivity to flash photography, please email ud2027@sigcse-ts.acm.org. We have asked all official conference photographers to use flash only for posed photos and to avoid flash for candid shots where attendees will not be expecting it.

Parking

There is a parking garage at the Hyatt Regency. The SIGCSE TS will have a discount code available for this garage, which should be posted about one week before the conference. There are additional parking garages and paid lots around the convention center.

Hotels

Both hotels are within a 1-minute walking distance from the convention center. The Hyatt Regency has a back door that can be used to go to/from the center.

Service Animals

Service animals are allowed. But there is no animal relief area within the building. However, there are a green areas around the building that could be used.

  1. Enter “911” in the recipient field — no photos, videos, or emojis.
