I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing at Newcastle University, UK, member of ACM and BCS, CITP and an Advance HE Senior Fellow (SFHEA).

As a member of the EPiC (Educational Practice in Computing) research group I regularly participate in working groups at ITiCSE relating to team project assessment and instructor perspectives, and currently co-lead CoCoNet building a network for best practice in individual dissertation projects.

Past research projects include FP7 Project COMPASS (Comprehensive Modelling for Advanced Systems of Systems). I obtained my BSc in Computer Software Technology at the University of Bath in 1991, and completed a PhD at Bath in 1997 on the use of partial specifications and refinement theory to aid the process of explaining complex systems.
